THE PALE RIDER HAS OPENED ANOTHER FILE...

“A widow, her children, and a nation standing too close to the edge.”

The Pale Rider has a rather interesting habit. He does not always arrive with a warning, nor does he announce whose name is next. Sometimes, he simply opens a file, turns a page and waits.

Tonight, the file concerns a widow trying to save her children. A mother's instinct is understandable. A mother's desperation is human. But somewhere between protecting her own household and pursuing her own interests, the consequences may have travelled far beyond the family dining table.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where the trouble begins.

For sure…

There is an old lesson from “L.D cigarettes”: when private ambitions, questionable “I network” and national security collide, ordinary people may end up paying the price. Imagine a chessboard where the players remain hidden, the pawns have no idea who is moving them, and the spectators only discover the game when the damage is already done.

Somewhere in this allegory sits a mysterious foreign hand, reminiscent of the "Muttum" operative in a world of "I" games. Not every shadow is an…. of course. But not every stranger holding a key should be trusted with the national lock either.

Now, let us get to the journalist.

How many more people must suffer because somebody is determined to dig through secrets, regardless of the consequences? Journalism is supposed to expose wrongdoing, not turn N.S into a playground for personal ambition. There is a difference between investigative courage and recklessness. Even a good journalist must understand that some doors, once opened, cannot simply be closed again.

Nope… Not at all…

And here is the interesting part: many have seen this playbook before. Different faces, different generations, perhaps a younger operator, but the choreography feels rather familiar. Old wine in a new bottle. Same operation, different packaging.

To the observers watching from the shadows: keep your eyes open. Not every move is what it appears to be, and not every innocent-looking conversation is merely a conversation.

As for the name in that file, I shall leave it where it belongs.

"Kalau takut dilambung ombak, Jangan berumah di tepi pantai…"

“He or They” “has or have” “his or their” own timetable.

But in the world of…. there is another kind of...

Ending:

"when the operation loses its cover, the allies disappear and the subject discovers that the clock has been ticking all along."

No threats. No grand announcements. Just consequences.

"The file remains open. The clock, however, does not stop."
