Is Shamsul Iskandar guilty?

Remember Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin?

When confessed briber Albert Tei implicated Shamsul in a corruption allegation of RM176,829.03 in November 2025 and the MACC said it would investigate, Shamsul, 51, who was then the senior political secretary to PMX, immediately resigned.

His words, before they made him wear MACC's infamous orange, were "God willing, I will prove my innocence".

Months have passed and Syamsul is still in the wilderness while Albert Tei goes everywhere like a big hero. Some so-called educated Malaysians including a former minister even want us the people to believe that Albert Tei the confessed briber is not just a hero but a whistle blower!

That is why media like Malaysiakini has been giving Albert Tei so much good publicity, maybe as much bad press as they give the MACC. Stoked, Albert Tei availed himself at the April 25 rally against the MACC and its chief commissioner Azam Baki organized by former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.

That rally was a flop, everybody knows that by now, but Albert Tei and Rafizi would of course claim otherwise on account that the King had consented to replacing Azam with a former judge just a day prior to the rally.

Back to Shamsul Iskandar, Where is justice, you ask? It is overdue if you ask me. It is delayed. And justice delayed is justice denied.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Shamsul, he doesn't even know I exist even though we are both from Melaka. Plus I'm too junior a journalist to know how to make friends with higher-ups like him.

But if he's guilty as Albert Tei claims, send him away. And if that confirms Albert Tei to be a hero, get the Istana to give the businessman a medal. And give him a mega project too so he doesn't need to bribe anyone else.

If Shamsul is able to prove his innocence, then free him. But there is much greater urgency to see justice done. Delay No More (with apologies to the famous non-halal Chinese restaurant). And go after Albert Tei for making a serious allegation without concrete evidence. What's so difficult with that, Yang Arif, I can't understand.
