The 'shooting' serves as a reminder that extreme politics, particularly those that exploit religion, will persist in causing harm to innocent people even thousands of miles away. Only six years ago, right next to Australia, many lives were brutally taken in an attack on two mosques.
Malaysia has truly blessed us. Despite the politics that exploit both religion and race—equally powerful subjects—we live in peace. However, if we Malaysians persist in taking things—and each other—for granted, incidents like those in Bondi and the Christchurch mosques could happen here too.
