Same goes to if you want to write something, would you spoil some goodness that will bring good results? Same goes to if you love someone, and you only got 15 minutes chance to 'face to face' with her, will you spoil the words? Me: i'd like to end with; "come on" that passed through my lips. Through the application of 'press freedom' in line with writing ethics, many people, especially the 'rakyat' , expect that the term 'bishop' journalist is still embedded in some journalists, especially in Malaysia. Journalists who are said to be controlled by the government to cover up all the disgrace and bring down the dignity of some parties on the orders of 'someone in power' are clearly less than authentic. Are the spontaneous opinions of certain groups, particularly the general populace, accurate?

Decoding the Journalist Slang 'Bishop': A Guide to Recognition

First of all, you need to know the definition of Press Freedom itself. The main focus is on 'freedom' of the press plus fulfilling the public's right to know minus the rejection of 'Press Free Doom' and the higher probability towards the well-being of the Royal Institution, Race and Religion. Especially in our beloved country of Malaysia.

However, there is also a possibility that the downfall stems from politics that are said to be less than healthy. 'If you are not healthy, take medicine. If you want to make the political agenda healthy, prove it with the promised manifesto'. From here 'alone', you can see who the real 'Bishop' is. Some are good, some are bad and some are ugly. And then, there is the devil  plus there is an angle. 'Even Azazel, The Fallen Angel.'

Throwback: February 27, 2025 - A significant achievement in the media landscape in Malaysia: The Malaysian Media Council (MMM) Bill 2024, after more than 50 years of discussion, has finally been approved, setting standards, ethical journalism, media freedom and the rights of media professionals.

The bill which aims to establish a self-regulatory body to safeguard the interests of the media and media practitioners also received the support of a majority of Members of Parliament after being debated by 18 government and opposition Members of Parliament.

'Warkah': the pros and cons of this AI need to be highlighted.

To begin with the cons, May 16, 2025: in the United States, there has been a recent rise in 'hackers' leveraging 'Deepfake' technology (a category of AI) to impersonate high-ranking US officials in audacious phishing campaigns aimed at stealing sensitive information from federal and state authorities.

The malicious character has been around since April, using fake voicemails and text messages to impersonate senior government officials and establish contact with victims. As part of the scam, the FBI has confirmed that hackers attempt to access victims' accounts through malicious links and direct them to a hacker-controlled platform or website that steals sensitive data such as passwords.

Meanwhile in Malaysia (NEGARAKU): A study of the differences in 4G network coverage in populated areas (CoPA) between telecommunications companies (telcos) in various locations will be conducted by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Malaysia's 4G coverage has reached an aggregate overall CoPA of 92 percent in Sarawak and 98.7 percent nationwide in the first quarter of 2025 although the actual rates vary among telcos.

"Some telcos achieve an aggregate as low as 76 percent CoPA while others are able to reach 86 percent,"- Communications Minister, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

 

Fahmi said he had instructed MCMC to detail the aggregate CoPA individually and at the national level for each telco by state.

The ‘variables’ underway where as the reliance on AI increases, so do the benefits and risks. Companies that rely solely on AI to streamline processes clearly improve customer experience and increase operational efficiency. And the cons, this reliance raises significant concerns about privacy, security and potential for abuse. In particular, the telecommunications industry has been using AI solutions for customer service, network optimization and predictive maintenance.

The Pros? is how the government can control the bad contingencies that are expected to happen. It is time to maximise the digital media industry plus I hope there are 'bodies' that can control AI instead of 'bodies' that 'depend' on AI. 

Add On: Marking the initiation of a groundbreaking space-based internet network to compete with SpaceX's Starlink, Amazon's Kuiper project saw its initial batch of 27 satellites soar into orbit from Florida on Monday.

Throwback February 2, 2025: The government is studying the impact of China's open-source artificial intelligence (AI) platform DeepSeek on Malaysia, which is rapidly gaining attention and is said to match or exceed the capabilities of established platforms such as GPT chat.

"So, I think this is something we need to study and ultimately need to see how we can also adapt to this technology in the future," - Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo

And as a result on February 4, 2025, Gobind stated that the emergence of DEEPSEEK is not a threat to Malaysia's growing data center industry. Although some countries have raised concerns about data security and compliance, Malaysia sees this as an opportunity to enhance its position as a regional data hub.

Add-on: On March 3, 2025- Through the Whoscall Annual Report 2024 showing statistics on fraudulent calls in Malaysia increased by 82.81 percent in the year, it is an alarming increase in fraudulent activities targeting the public. Phone calls and scams driven by AI to exploit victims.

The Director of Bukit Aman's Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK), CP Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf, stated that monetary losses due to scams escalated to RM1.57 billion in 2024, compared to RM1.22 billion in 2023.

This concern is directed towards legal violations of the Official Secrets Act 1972 (Act 88). The country has just embarked on a press freedom initiative in line with ethics through The Malaysian Media Council (MMM) Bill 2024. Hopefully there's no 'Press Free Doom' due to this entity.
